History of emo

Return to guide
It was the 90's. Punk rock was great and all but the young kids needed something new. I don't know why, punk revival was awesome and remains so to this day. But anyway, back to the story.

A new movement began to grow out of punk revival. The classic stories about sitting round and getting stoned and so forth were replaced by songs about how much it sucks to loose your girlfriend. Emo was born.

Well, sort of. Emo actually has it's roots in the mid 80's where it spawned from original punk bands. However it only reached the mainstream at the turn of the millenium.
