Britney Spears

Britney Spears Biography
I was surprised when I went onto the Google directory to find that 41 of the 244 Britney Spear’s sites were Ant-Britney. But article this article isn’t to slate Birtney although as readers will know I can’t write my name without adding satire (seriously – I write Chris Worfolk®).

Britney Spears was born in Kentwood, Louisiana, USA on the 2nd of December. In her hometown she appeared in talent shows and choirs, which revealed just how talented she was.

Britney didn’t let this get her down though. She auditioned for The Disney Channel’s “Mickey Mouse Club,” when she was eight. Unfortunately she was too young for the show but was so talented, a Disney producer helped her to get an agent in New York.

Britney spent the next 3 summers studying performing arts. Soon she was acting in a TV commercials and off-Broadway shows. At the age of 11 Britney graduated to the coveted place in Disney’s Mickey Mouse Club.

Britney spent a couple of years working on the show and then in the footsteps on her idols Michael Jackson, Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston, Britney soon caught the attention of Jive Records and was given the opportunity to sing a’capella.

Luckily they loved her because without their poor judgement we wouldn’t have Britney today. She quickly hooked up with Back street Boys’ producer Max Martin and Whitney Houston producer Eric Foster.

He first single “…Baby one more time,” took America by storm and an album quickly followed. The video for “…Baby one more time,” was also a smash and a cover of Rolling Stone (April 1999) rocketed Britney from a pop wannabe to a mega star.

Britney soon followed up her first single “Sometimes,” a soft summer Ballard that was released in June 1999. Her third single “Crazy,” did even better which was released after her tour across America.

In 1999 Britney got to perform at MTV Europe Music Awards in Dublin where she picked up awards in all 4 categories she was nominated for (which were surprising not the booby prize) including best female artist, best pop act and best song for “…Baby one more time.”

By now Britney was a phenomenon and this was proved when a her forth single, “Born to make you happy,” released in January 2000, shot straight into the top of the charts the world over.

Soon after this, between touring and promotion, Britney began to record songs for her new album, “Opps! I did it again.” She also released a single with the same name which again shot into charts the world over. This was followed by the second single from her album “Lucky,” which was a bittersweet tale of stardom and loneliness.

On the 12th of May 2000 Britney announced her world tour, “Opps!” Which was a huge success with fans desperate to get tickets. Singles “stronger” and “Don’t let me be the last to know,” quickly followed.

In 2001 Britney released her third album, “Britney,” which showed her more mature side and found its way into my record collection. The first single, “I’m a slave 4 you,” was not only a smash but allowed her to move to the next level.

Britney had accomplished her dream. She had become a star and followed in the footsteps of her idols. Where to next? Who cares?
